How to Add Mentions or Tags Across Social Media Channels

Mentions are a great way to boost engagement and bring attention to your posts by directly referencing other users, pages, or businesses. This step-by-step guide will walk you through how to mention other users or pages on various social media platforms.

Facebook Page Mentions

• Type @ followed by the Facebook page name or username (for example, @eclincher). You can then select the page from the Suggested Mentions list, which shows results under the Recent, Pages, or Places tabs.
• You can also go to Saved Libraries > Handles to quickly insert any Facebook pages you have already saved.

Instagram Mentions

• The Instagram API does not support suggested mentions, so you will need to type the handle manually.
• Type @ followed by the exact username (for example, @eclincher_)
• You can also go to Saved Libraries > Handles to insert saved Instagram handles
• Only public accounts can be mentioned. If the account is private, the post will not be published
• Mentions will become clickable links once the post is live on Instagram

Threads Mentions

• Similar to Instagram, the Threads API does not support suggested mentions.
• Type @ followed by the exact username (for example, @worrywartgamer)
• You can also go to Saved Libraries > Handles to insert saved Threads handles
• Only public accounts can be mentioned. If the account is private, the post will not be published
• Mentions will become clickable links once the post is live on Threads

X (Twitter) Mentions

• The X API does not support suggested mentions from the platform directly, but Eclincher has a built-in Suggested Mentions and Recent Mentions feature based on handles you have previously used or curated lists.
• Type @ followed by the exact X username (for example, @eclincher), then select the right handle from the list
• You can also go to Saved Libraries > Handles for any saved X handles

LinkedIn Mentions

LinkedIn tagging or mentioning works uniquely compared to other channels. You can mention company pages as well as personal profiles.

How to mention a LinkedIn company page or personal profile:

After selecting the LinkedIn profile in the Post Editor, there are two ways to mention a page or profile:

• Type @ + LinkedIn company name, then press space. (best for short names)
• Alternatively, copy and paste the LinkedIn URL (from the homepage) of the company page or personal profile in our Post Editor.

TikTok Mentions

• The TikTok API does not support suggested mentions, so you will need to type the handle directly.
• Type @ followed by the exact TikTok username (for example, @eclincher)
• Mentions will become clickable links once the post is live on TikTok

Bluesky Mentions

• Bluesky has built-in suggested mention support, making it easy to find the right account.
• Type @ followed by the Bluesky username (for example, @eclincher.bsky.social). A list of Suggested Mentions will appear as you type, so you can select the correct account.
• You can also choose from Recent Mentions, which shows accounts you have previously tagged.

Important Note on Multi-Channel Posts

When scheduling a post to multiple networks at the same time, mention suggestions will only work for one platform. Facebook is prioritized in this case. To make sure mentions appear correctly on every platform, you have two options:

• Create separate posts per platform, or
• Use the Customize Channel option to adjust mentions for each platform individually
