My post is saved without text
The Text in My Post is Missing After Saving
You wrote your post, hit save, and the text is just gone. If this has happened to you, you are not alone, and there is a straightforward explanation for why it happens.
Why Does This Happen?
When you copy text from certain design or creative tools like Photoshop, the copied content can carry along hidden special characters that are not recognized by standard text editors. These characters are invisible in the Eclincher post editor, so the text looks perfectly normal while you are typing. But when you go to save, those hidden characters cause the save to fail, and the post ends up empty.
How to Fix It
The solution is to clean the text before pasting it into Eclincher. Here is how:
- Paste Into a Plain Text Editor First
- Copy your text as usual
- Open a plain text editor such as Notepad (Windows), TextEdit in plain text mode (Mac), Google Docs, or Microsoft Word
- Paste the text there first
- Check for Unusual Characters
- Scan the text for any unusual or out-of-place characters such as or other symbols that should not be there
- If you spot any, delete them before moving on
- Copy the Cleaned Text
- Once the text looks clean and correct, select it all and copy it again
- Paste Into Eclincher
- Go back to the Eclincher post editor and paste the cleaned text
- Your post should now save correctly with all the text intact
By following these steps, your text should be saved correctly without any issues.
Quick FAQs
- Does this happen with all copy and paste actions? No. It typically occurs when copying text from design tools like Photoshop or similar software that embed special formatting or hidden characters. Copying from a web page, Word document, or Google Doc usually does not cause this issue.
- Is there a faster way to strip hidden characters? Pasting into Notepad or any plain text editor before copying again is the quickest method, as plain text editors automatically strip hidden formatting and special characters.
- My post still saves without text even after cleaning it. What should I do? Reach out to the Support Team with details about where the original text was copied from and we will help you get to the bottom of it.
